Farheen focuses her practice in the areas of employment law, franchising, and corporate law in the start-up/tech space.

Farheen’s franchise practice includes creation of franchise disclosure documents and related contracts; reviewing and advising potential franchisees on franchise disclosure documents; training franchise systems in proper administration of franchise agreements and associated contracts; and advising on franchisor-specific issues such as compliance with federal and state franchise laws.

Farheen’s employment practice includes reviewing franchisor manuals and employee handbooks, especially  to ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws; reviewing of internal and system wide policies; drafting and advising on employment contracts (including executive employment contracts; advising on independent contractor versus employee issues, and joint employer issues, including mitigation of risk; advising on EEOC/TWC-CRD discrimination charges; advising on compliance with Section 7 and Section 8 of the NLRA; and wage and hour compliance and DOL audits.

Farheen’s corporate practice includes drafting corporate agreements such as service agreements, termination agreements, assignments and transfers, amendments, and company agreements; advising technology start-ups at the initial stages, including forming the correct corporate entity, drafting flexible company agreements, nondisclosure agreements, confidentiality agreements, privacy policies, and terms of use, and drafting employee handbooks and company policies; advising technology start-ups on investor relations and contracts; and advising start-ups on the gig economy and independent contractor versus employee issues.

Before joining Mullin Law, PC, Farheen worked as a litigation associate at two prominent Dallas-area firms, devoting her practice to matters in arbitration and litigation in state and federal courts. Farheen also has experience resolving matters before the Texas Workforce Commission-Civil Rights Division, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board.

Farheen received her J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, where she was actively involved as a board member in several student organizations. Farheen interned for a variety of courts and state offices, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas County Court of Law #4, Dallas County Public Defender’s Office, and Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, child abuse division. She was also an articles editor for SMU’s International Law Review, an oralist on Jessup International Law Moot Court Team, and an SMU Barrister. Farheen earned her bachelor’s degree from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
